Gracias Tehuacán / Thank You Tehuacán
After nearly year in Mexico my time is coming to an end. I arrived in Tehuacán, Puebla in August of 2024 expecting to only stay for four months, but I fell in love and could not leave in December. / Después de casi un año en México, mi tiempo aquí está por llegar a su fin. Llegué a Tehuacán, Puebla en agosto de 2024 esperando quedarme solo cuatro meses, pero me enamoré y no pude irme en diciembre.

Tehuacán is not the most touristy or exciting city to live in, but it has given me the opportunity to understand Mexico and Mexican culture. This city has taught me so much, introduced to the best people, shown me so much beauty, and of course let me taste delicious food. Below I have attached some of my favorite photos and videos from my time in Tehuacán:
Tehuacán no es la ciudad más turística ni la más emocionante para vivir, pero me ha dado la oportunidad de entender a México y su cultura. Esta ciudad me ha enseñado muchísimo, me ha presentado a personas increíbles, me ha mostrado tanta belleza y, por supuesto, me ha dejado probar comida deliciosa. Abajo he adjuntado algunas de mis fotos y videos favoritos de mi tiempo en Tehuacán:
Independence Day / Día de la Independencia
Desfile del 16 de Septiembre / Independence Day Parade
A few weeks after I arrived in Mexico it was September 16th, Independence Day. There was a fair in the city center for about a week and a parade. I went to the parade by myself, but I still had a great time.
Unas semanas después de llegar a México fue el 16 de septiembre, el Día de la Independencia. Hubo una feria en el centro de la ciudad durante aproximadamente una semana y también un desfile. Fui al desfile solo, pero aun así la pasé muy bien.

Day of the Dead / Día de los Muertos

The weeks leading up to Day of the Dead were my favorite in Tehuacán. I loved going to the Purísima market because they set up a Day of the Dead market next to the fruit and vegetable market. I loved the smell of incense as I walked around shopping for sugar skulls, flowers, chocolates, and papel picado.
Las semanas previas al Día de Muertos fueron mis favoritas en Tehuacán. Me encantaba ir al mercado de la Purísima porque ponían un tianguis de Día de Muertos justo al lado del mercado de frutas y verduras. Me fascinaba el olor del incienso mientras caminaba entre los puestos comprando calaveritas de azúcar, flores, chocolates y papel picado.

After buying many things at the market, I made an altar for my dog Roxy that passed away in 2020.
Después de comprar muchas cosas en el mercado, hice una ofrenda para mi perrita Roxy, que falleció en 2020.
Mother's Day / Día de las Madres
When my friend invited me to her family's Mother's Day celebration I was honored. My favorite part was listening to the mariachis.
Cuando mi amiga me invitó a la celebración del Día de las Madres con su familia, me sentí muy honrado. Mi parte favorita fue escuchar a los mariachis.
Pride Parade / Desfile del Orgullo
One of the best experiences in Tehuacán was walking in the city's pride parade. I thought I was just going to watch, but was invited to march. Considering the city is quite conservative, I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout.
Una de las mejores experiencias en Tehuacán fue caminar en el desfile del orgullo de la ciudad. Pensé que solo iba a observar, pero me invitaron a marchar. Considerando que la ciudad es bastante conservadora, me sorprendió gratamente la cantidad de gente que asistió.
